Huskies Split Pair on Saturday

HAMPTON, VA--The Bloomsburg University baseball team split a pair of games on Saturday at the Builders Invitational in Hampton, VA. The Huskies beat Lock Haven, 7-4, and lost to East Stroudsburg, 11-2.

In the Lock Haven game, Chris Tressler (Lewistown/Lewistown) started and went seven innings and struck out a career-high nine in earning the win. Bloomsburg scored an unearned run in both the first and fourth innings and also got an RBI single from Rich Letts (Parkesburg/Octorara) in the third for a 3-2 lead through four innings. In the fifth, the Huskies put three runs on the board with a two-run double from Carlos Medina (Lititz/Manheim Twp) being the big hit in the frame. Bloomsburg added to its lead in the bottom of the eighth when Tony Donofry (Newtown/Council Rock North) walked, went to third on a single and stole home.

Medina finished 2-4 with two runs scored and two RBI.

Earlier in the day the Huskies (1-2) lost to East Stroudsburg 11-2 with Letts and Donaven Rodriguez (Manheim/Manheim Central) scoring runs.

Bloomsburg will conclude tournament action on Sunday at 6 p.m. against Kutztown.
